From the nightlife.
For the nightlife.
I come from Vienna’s nightlife. If you work there, you quickly learn to read a room: who is having a great time, who has had too much, who is no longer dancing but just standing there. And you learn that the worst moments are rarely loud.
Too often I saw someone standing at the edge, not daring to say anything. Not to security, because it was “not bad enough”. Not to their friends, because they were dancing. And then they simply went home and never came back.
At some point it became clear to me: between “everything is fine” and “emergency”, someone is missing. Security is responsible for danger, first aiders for injuries. For everything in between, there was no one. So I founded Awareness Wien.
Today we provide awareness teams for events in Vienna, train bar, door and security staff and write awareness concepts. Not as a trend. As part of an event, as natural as first aiders and security.

Four sentences we work by.
Every person in a purple vest has learned them before standing at an event for the first time.
Look instead of looking away.
We don’t wait until someone asks for help. We go over, we ask and we stay.
Ask instead of assuming.
The person affected decides what happens. We listen and never act over their head.
Stay instead of walking on.
A glass of water, a quiet place, the way to the taxi. We stay until it is really okay.
Confidential. Always.
We talk about incidents with no one but you. No names, no stories, no social media.
Three steps, one goal.
Awareness only works when it fits the event. That is why every collaboration starts with listening.
Listen
In a first conversation we get to know your event: format, audience, venue, what has worked so far and what hasn’t.
Prepare
We define team size, contact point and procedures and coordinate with your security and first aiders. On request we train your staff beforehand.
On site
Visible in purple vests, mobile in the crowd, reachable at the contact point. Afterwards we review with you what happened and what can be improved.
We know the venues, the law and the nights.
Partner of Marx Halle
We are partners of one of Vienna’s largest event venues. We know how big halls work, from the entrance to the last coat check.
§ 26 Vienna Events Act
Vienna requires event organisers to have an awareness concept. We know the requirements and implement them so they work in everyday practice.
Member of the Vienna Economic Chamber
Awareness Wien is a registered company in Vienna-Mariahilf. You get a proper offer, an invoice and one person to talk to.
